Solution

A solution is a mixture of substances or materials that occur when a solute (a substance that is dissolved) and solvent (the substance in which dissolving takes place) are mixed during the process of dissolving. This takes place at a molecular level.

The process of creating a solution (dissolving) can often be carried out in reverse and the solvent and solute recovered from the solution through evapoartion or distillation.
