Germination

« Back to Glossary Index

Germination is the process in which a seed begins to develop into new, similar plant. In order to germinate a seed requires moisture, heat and air. Most seeds do not need sunlight to germinate.

Once the process of germination has taken place and leaves have been produced the plant is able to make its own food through the process of photosynthesis.
