Genetic inheritance is the process where traits and characteritics are passed from one generation of a living thing onto the next. These characteristics are passed down through the genetic information stored in the nucleus of cells as chromosomes which are made from deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA. When living thinsg reproduce all this information from both parents is passed down, half comes from each parent so, for example, in humans children will never be identical to either of their parents but might have similar characteristics to each.
